Here are the broadcasts from the Month of May - simply pull down
the top menu and select the date and segment you wish to
listen to. The embedded media player (we recommend you

May 19, 2007, Click It or Ticket. Our first hour
guests were Cheryl Wittke, Director of Safe Communities and
Lieutenant Stephanie Bradley-Wilson of the Madison Police
Department to discuss the Click It or Ticket It
campaign May 21st through June 3rd. Part one of this hour we
discussed the events of Safe Communities and the campaign in
general and a discussion of primary enforcement. Part two
includes a discussion on the use of seat belts by young
drivers, particularly in the African American and Latino
communities. The conversation continues and Part 3 includes
the seat belt vs booster seat guidelines and regulations.
In our second hour, Dawn Crim, Acting Special Assistant
to the University of Wisconsin Chancellor was our second
hour guest. Part One discussion included a tribute to the
legacy of LaMarr Billups and the programs that he initiated
in the University and with the community. Dawn discussed how
she will continue with those programs and how more will be
advanced. Part 2 continues the discussion of programs, and
highlights the Odyssey program. Graduates of the program
called in. Part 3 gave the listeners a closer look at
Community Programming.
May 12, 2007, Juneteenth Day & Mother's
Day. Annie Weatherby, co-director of Kujichagulia,
Madison's Center for Self Determination.Annie along with
Mona Winston are the co-coordinators for the Madison
Juneteenth Celebration, this year being on June 16th at Peen
Park. Annie shares with us and the listeners the plans for
this year's event, and all the activities associated with
it, including a James Brown Contest! Enjoy the conversation
with our hosts Richard Brown and Betty Banks, the input from
our callers and the many Mother's Day Shout outs !
May 5, 2007, Abraham Rose and Johnny Ellis.
They are co-founders of His Rose,
Inc., a not-for- profit 501(c)3 World Ministry of
Love, Truth, and Beauty. "His Rose" is dedicated to raising
awareness of spiritual principles through personal ministry
and inspired literature, offering "living proof" that God is
alive and well, and that His Word is faithful and true. In
Parts 1 and 2, Abraham Rose and Johnny speak about their
lives, and their active involvement in Voices Beyond Bars.
They were the editors and co-compilers of The First
Twenty-Nine Days, a moving anthology of 20 stories told by
former prisoners. They discuss the importance of the 1st
twenty-nine days, and the conditions and challenges
encountered by former prisoners. In part 3, Johnny and
Abraham Rose speak about The Legacy Campaign, 45 personal
accounts of lives forever changed when diagnosed with
HIV/AIDS and their newest book, Johnny and His Rose.
Ella -Oroki Rice. A Chicago born social activist
she is the founder of Hands From My Heart, a healing
ministry for broken hearted men, women and children. The
focus of her ministry engages her creative gifts: using
spoken and written word, body movement and music. She will
be presenting her one woman debut performance: Inappropriate
Laughter and other stories that might make you cry, Saturday
May 12, 4:30 pm at Neighborhood House. Throughout all 3
parts Oroki talks about her life experiences, which shaped
her One Woman Debut, and delights the listeners with some of
her original spoken word. Part 2 includes a conversation
about Oroki's experiences with the Odyssey Program of the
UW.
